AGYW Advocacy Forum

Dedicated advocacy platform for Adolescent Girls and Young Women to champion their health and rights.

The AGYW (Adolescent Girls and Young Women) Advocacy Forum creates a safe and empowering platform for young women to understand their rights, share their stories, and advocate for policy change that improves their lives.

The program specifically addresses the unique vulnerabilities and challenges faced by adolescent girls and young women in Uganda, including HIV risk, gender-based violence, early pregnancy, and limited access to education and economic opportunities.

Program Objectives

  • Empower AGYW with knowledge of their rights and available services
  • Build a collective voice for AGYW in policy advocacy
  • Develop the HIV prevention stigma index survey
  • Create HIV prevention materials tailored for AGYW
  • Facilitate linkages to health, legal, and social services

Key Activities

  • Regular AGYW forum meetings and dialogue sessions
  • HIV prevention stigma index surveys (with AVAC funding)
  • Development of AGYW-specific prevention materials
  • Advocacy at Uganda AIDS Commission
  • Safe space creation in communities
