How We Started & Why We Exist
“ACTS 101 works with professionals and various members of the community for children, adolescents and youth transformation as they take their journey to adulthood.”
Acts101 Uganda was founded with a clear purpose: to walk alongside young people at the most critical stages of their lives. We deliver quality services through meaningful individual and group-centred approaches that respect the dignity and potential of every young person.
Our mission is to train, empower, support, and advocate for children, adolescents, youths, and their support systems. We promote quality health and development services and advocate for the rights of young people — working with community stakeholders to create an enabling environment for youth development across Uganda.
Since our founding, we have grown into a trusted NNGO (Reg. 3242) operating 7 evidence-based programs that reach thousands of young people across Uganda every year.
What We Believe In
Our principles are informed by over 14 years of experience engaging young people and generating a wealth of knowledge about what truly works.
Preparation
Young people need to be effectively prepared and empowered to make informed decisions about matters that affect their lives.
Support
Young people should have customised services and a network of supportive relationships that meet their needs and promote a healthy transition to adulthood.
Opportunity
Young people should be provided with an array of life opportunities that promote optimal growth and development — including experiential learning, healthy risk-taking, and social participation.
Inclusion Statement
Acts101 considers inclusion a priority and ensures that all beneficiaries, allies and partners are loved, respected and safe. Our programs are open to all without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age, or mental or physical disability.
We are dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive environment that allows for universal access and participation in all our programs and services.
Where barriers to participation are identified, we strive with realistic considerations and adapt programs, rules, policies, or expectations to reduce or remove those barriers.
The physical safety and emotional well-being of all our service users is the highest priority and the ultimate consideration in all our decisions.
